GSK launches $1m project to tackle children immunization barriers

GSK, in partnership with Save the Children has launched a new $1 million project to empower local organisations in Nigeria and Ethiopia to tackle barriers against children immunization ahead of the World Immunization Week.

In a statement released by Rhoda Ndahi, Save the Children’s acting media and communications manager for Nigeria, Africa has the highest recorded number of yet-to-be vaccinated children in the world.

This signals an extension of Save the Children and GSK ten-year collaboration for an additional five years.

GSK invested £15 million to support two new immunization initiatives in Ethiopia and Nigeria that aims to lower the proportion of children who receive no vaccinations in the past year.

Up to $100,000 grants are offered for each project along with wrap around support services from legal counsel, branding help, tailored and technical guidance to meets various needs of startups and companies.

Furthermore, Innovators can tender applications for the accelerator to gain access to the vaccines.

The Save the Children and GSK immunization Accelerator was created because both organization shared a vision of eliminating vaccine-preventable disease in children worldwide.
