Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stated that he does not consider cannabis, commonly referred to as weed, to be a hard drug.
During the latest episode of The Morning Hustle podcast, where he discussed his foundation’s planned donations to orphanages and efforts to combat drug abuse,
Davido addressed accusations of hypocrisy. He explained that although some people criticize him for donating to fight drug abuse while using weed, he does not view weed as a hard drug.
Davido said, “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug.”
He further emphasized the increasing issue of drug addiction, highlighting his desire to help those struggling with substance abuse. “A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit,” he added.
