Controversial social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has claimed that embattled rapper Naira Marley confessed to owing his former signee, Mohbad, an undisclosed sum of money prior to Mohbad’s death.
Recall that Mohbad tragically passed away under suspicious circumstances in September 2023 after leaving Naira Marley’s Marlian Music due to alleged contract breaches by the record label.
The controversial nature of his death led some to suspect his former label boss, Naira Marley, and his associate, Sam Larry, who was seen in a viral video assaulting Mohbad before his death.
The duo were arraigned and remanded on October 6, 2023, for their alleged involvement in circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death but were later granted bail after pleading not guilty.
Despite their not-guilty plea, some fans have continued to accuse them on social media and boycott Naira Marley’s music.
In a video message circulating on social media ahead of Mohbad’s 28th posthumous birthday, VeryDarkMan, who has been actively involved in the case, said he offered Naira Marley the chance to use his platform to further prove his innocence, but the rapper declined.
VeryDarkMan said: “I asked Naira Marley why he isn’t coming out to show the public his own evidence — the business side — because he clearly owed Mohbad some money. He told me how much he owed him. It’s not a small amount of money.
“He explained what led to their problem, stating it began when Mohbad started working outside the record label’s contract and requested a change in management provided by the label. I then urged him to come out and explain to Nigerians what transpired between them, but he said God will fight his battles.”
