Blogger Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has revealed how he obtained a controversial audio recording involving cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.
Otse made this disclosure on Monday while appearing before a House of Representatives panel investigating allegations of bribery involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Initially hesitant to address the committee without Bobrisky present, Otse was eventually persuaded by his lawyer to speak. He explained that the recording, which he had made public, was given to him by someone to whom Bobrisky owed money. Part of the audio was submitted to the committee for review.
In a viral video, VeryDarkMan alleged that Bobrisky had paid ₦15 million to have money laundering charges dropped by the EFCC during his naira-spraying incident in April, which led to his six-month imprisonment. He further claimed that Bobrisky had paid additional millions for preferential treatment in prison.
Bobrisky has denied all allegations, and both the EFCC and NCoS have launched investigations.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called for an independent probe by the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to further investigate the claims made by the blogger.
