‘Talking stage is scary, i just want to get married’

A Nigerian woman recently sparked a lot of discussion online after sharing her readiness for marriage without dating.

In a video posted on TikTok, she explained that she finds the “talking stage” intimidating and prefers to skip it altogether. Instead, she suggested that her potential partner should go directly to her parents for approval.

Her statement: “The talking stage scares me because, at the end of the day, they’re just going to be asking questions, and you spend 2-3 months talking to that particular person only to find out that you guys are not compatible.”

Then you realize the person doesn’t eat onions or something like that, and it turns out you can’t work together. I’m really exhausted; I don’t want to date, but I want to get married.”

She further added, “This is the time we’re supposed to do it Islamically. The guy will just go directly to my parents, and if my parents approve, I’ll just marry him. I’m sure my parents won’t approve someone who isn’t good.”

Concerned Nigerians flocked the comment section to drop their own ‘two cents’:
