“Stop Avoiding Your Parental Responsibilities” – Rita Edochie Tells Parents

Rita Edochie

Rita Edochie, a veteran actress in Nollywood, has encouraged parents to take up their obligations and be involved in their children’s lives.

The well-known actress offered the guidance on her Instagram page, @ritaedochie, saying that parents should cease avoiding their duties regarding the wellbeing of their children since “greater rewards await them when the children come of age.”
She went on to say that providing for their children’s fundamental needs and showing them love and care makes them exceptional no matter where they end up.

She asserts that by providing for their children’s fundamental needs, parents are influencing their children’s future and that it is vital to invest in them now to benefit from it later.

She continued by saying that parents should support their children in their struggles rather than giving up on them to prevent neglect in old age. After all, if their children succeed, their parents might not be entitled to share in their success.

“Stop avoiding your parental responsibilities; instead, meet them head-on and reap enormous benefits as your kids grow up and become influential members of society.

“Whether you are married or not, as a parent, please instill your obligations in your children’s lives.

“Treat them with care, affection, and all the necessities for greatness. You are molding your child’s future; invest in them now and pay for it later.

“Don’t give up on them; if you do, they may eventually overcome and succeed, and you might not have any say or right in it.

“You will simply be at their mercy since no one will force them to care for and love you as you get older. They will decide on what to give you and when.

However, if you make the effort to invest in your child’s future and they become successful, you will always have complete control over their finances and can make demands of them without any restrictions.

“I see this happening in various families I know, so don’t dispute this message,” she added.

Rita Edochie started her acting career in the 1990s and is currently the Women Leader of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

In addition to Shining Light, Only Yesterday, August Meeting, Breaking Rules, My Lost Love, Blood Line, In My Kingdom, Regret to Love, Pain and Glory, and other films, she has starred in over 50 Nollywood productions.
