Speaking In a recent interview that has gone viral and created a loud buzz on Channels TV, popular Nollywood actress Adunni Ade said that speaking Yoruba sometimes can be draining.
Adunni has been under heavy criticism and bad press since her statement went viral. She has been isn the news following her recent assertion about the Yoruba Language. In the interview, 47-year-old Adunni Ade said; “Speaking Yoruba is draining, sometimes it hurts my nerves.”
Although making such a blatant comment, it’s important to note that she has featured in several Yoruba movies, Adunni Ade, the executive producer of the Netflix movie, Soole. For her to have uttered that sometimes it hurts her nerves when people want her to speak Yoruba is completely surprising to many.
Adunni Ade’s mother and father are from different racial backgrounds. Her mum, Emily Faye, is German-Irish, while her dad is a successful Yoruba businessman from Lagos State, Nigeria. A genetic background that has made her distinguish herself as white and not “light skinned” which she said many tends to mix up together.
Adunni worked in Kentucky State’s housing and insurance sector in the US before pursuing a career in the modeling and fashion industry then landed a movie role in Yoruba film in 2013, a career in which many deem her as a successful woman in.
