Peter Obi sent me N250k for my mother’s funeral in 2011 – Kanayo O. Kanayo Reveals

Kanayo, in an interview with Afia TV, disclosed that in 2011 after his mother’s burial, Obi called to send his condolences and good wishes. Recounting how presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, Peter Obi reached out to him when his mother died in 2011.

He said, “In 2011, I was to bury my mum and I had many senators I had friends and I wrote to all of them. Two weeks after the funeral, Peter Obi called me at 1 AM in his little voice, ‘o sim ‘nwanne I just got your letter, I know the burial is over, You know I would have come if I had seen the letter’’

However, he did say he was surprised to see the amount of money that Obi had sent to him, stating it was an amount that would have been enough to specifically buy a cow. He recounted saying: “He sent me exactly the price of a cow. You know somebody would have thought he would give you two million for burial in 2011.”

Continuing his narration, Kanayo said “I think he went to the market and priced the cow, the cow was 250,000 and that is what he sent to me. But the story here is he was the Governor but he had time to call me.”
