Some Afrobeats songs have become worldwide hits thanks to TikTok, like Oxlade’s “Kulosa” performance at Colors Studios, where fans extensively replicated the music video and helped the song gain popularity.
According to recent developments, Oxlade’s “Kulosa” has received over 50,000,000 streams in France and has been certified diamond by the French music certification agency SNEP.
The June 2022 release of the song, which was distributed by Epic Records France, propelled Oxlade to global prominence, particularly in France, where it peaked at number 18 on the SNEP chart and ended the year at number 141.
When Oxlade sang the song during Wizkid’s Accor Arena event in France, the audience roared, he recalled during a live session of the Zero Conditions Podcast in December 2023.
On YouTube, the music video that started the social media challenge has received more than 80 million views. The remix of Oxlade also included Camilla Cabello, a pop sensation from Cuba, which helped the song gain even more popularity abroad.
Oxlade’s “Kulosa,” which has received over 287 million Spotify plays, is the fourth Afrobeats song to receive a diamond certification in France, following Burna Boy’s “Last Last,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” and Rema’s “Calm Down.”
