Gospel music legend Deborah Fasoyin, renowned for the iconic song “Odun Lo Sopin,” has clarified that she did not compose the song.
In an interview shared online by FM 365 and reported by Church Times Nigeria, Fasoyin revealed that the song predates her choir’s popular 1979 recording.
She explained that her choir only added two verses to the already well-known hymn, which was widely sung in Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) congregations during revival programs. Fasoyin emphasized that the song was already popular before her choir formally recorded it.
Despite her repeated public acknowledgements over the years, many have continued to associate Fasoyin with the composition of the song.
