Rumors and press reports claim that Nigerian actor and comedian John Ikechukwu Okafor, also referred to as Mr. Ibu, has passed away.
John Okafor disclosed in October 2023 that he had a condition that might require him to amputate one of his legs.
He claimed that while working with other Nollywood actors and actresses on a movie set, he became aware of the issue.
In order to pay for his medical expenses, he made a plea to his followers and the general public for money and prayers. In addition, he uploaded a video of himself expressing his fear of losing his limb while laying in a hospital bed.
Okafor suffered from a disease that necessitated seven surgeries, and in November 2023, he had his leg amputated. According to his family, the amputation was performed in order to prolong his life and improve his prognosis.
“My illness was perpetrated by people that hate me. They did what they did to me. Later, I was taken to the hospital. The doctors are prophets. So, they went into my system and they told me what was wrong and what they were going to do. I said ‘Whatever you are going to do, please, do it, let me live because if I die like this the enemies will laugh’. And then the doctors said ‘Okay, there’s no problem,” he stated during the period.
Reports has it that Mr. Ibu was taken to Evercare hospital in Lagos on Saturday where he died of cardiac arrest
