Nigerians have taken 18 out of the top 30 spots on the list of Africa’s Most Talked About People of 2024, released by Top Charts Africa.
Nigerian singer Wizkid tops the list, having trended throughout the year due to his renewed feud with Davido and the release of his new album, ‘Morayo.’
Kenya’s President William Ruto is in the second spot. Ruto made headlines in June when thousands of Kenyans protested against a tax increase.
Following the storming of the Kenyan Parliament, he rejected the bill on June 28 and signed the “Appropriations Bill 2024” to address the budget shortfall.
Nigerian afrobeats singer Davido is ranked third, with his year-long trend peaking with his highly publicized wedding to Chioma in June, dubbed ‘Chivido 2024.’
Other notable Nigerians on the list include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Aliko Dangote, Bobrisky, Peter Obi, and Victor Osimhen. South African singer Tyla and Equatoguinean former public official Baltasar Engonga also made the list.
