The President of the Actors Guild Of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has disclosed that Junior Pope, whose death news have raged on in the past few hours is alive and receiving treatment in a hospital in Asaba, Delta State capital.
Videos showing revival attempts have also surfaced on the internet, after a first video showing the seemingly lifeless bodies of Pope and other actors as they were brought out of the body of water.
Also speaking, Yakubu Abubakar, Secretary of the AGN, said the film star is currently in the hospital receiving treatment.
“Yes. He is alive. God has done it for us. He was in a coma all this while. Fortunately, when the medical team called, they said there is still life in him and they resuscitated him,” he said.
Rollas, and Sam Ọlatunji, had earlier confirmed that Pope drowned in the water alongside others on their way to a movie location.
Ọlatunji, in a post via his Instagram handle, @officialsamolatunji, had written, “Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to location and their bodies have been recovered. What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Multiple sources confirm this sad development to us.”
The actor would turn 40 on May 7, 2024.
