I’m the biggest actor in Africa – Timini Egbuson

Timini Egbuson

In a recent Menisms Podcast episode, Nigerian actor Timini Egbuson declared that he is the biggest actor in Africa.
Egbuson says he can confidently call himself the best because of his fifteen years of experience in the Nigerian film industry. “I genuinely believe if you put everything that I have done and everything that I have been able to accomplish, I believe that I’m the biggest actor in Africa,” he said.

With his roles in Elevator Baby and Tinsel, as well as MTV Shuga: Naija, he won the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for Best Actor in a Drama. Most recently, he starred in the highest-grossing Nigerian film, A Tribe Called Judah.

Additionally, he disclosed that he has been able to assist other prominent male actors in becoming the stars that they already are. “I think that I really opened up the way for a lot of new school young actors,” he said. Additionally, I think I created the category for leading male young actors. Because there were no starring roles for younger [men] when I began Nollywood; you had to be an old man or a young hottie. Lead roles for young guys were not being aggressively written by anyone.

He claims that many prominent male actors in the business have benefited from his contacts and assistance at some point.

“I have completed projects for any well-known person you can name in your head. However, the issue and error they commit is that, rather than leaving with an attitude of appreciation, they leave here. You are unaware of it since they are not discussing it or expressing gratitude for this Og, which is the reason why. Instead, they are asking me what I must do in order to compete when they come here.

Egbuson also announced that his directorial debut will be coming soon, confirming his transition from acting.
