Speaking in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has revealed her desire to be one of the leading Afrobeats artists.
The “Rush” crooner added that it is her desire for the genre to become the biggest in the world, she said “My hope for Afrobeats is for it to be the biggest genre in the world. Because it deserves to be”, a statement that has been welcomed by many fans of the Afrobeats Genre across the world, equally taking time to praise her talent.
The 21 year old continued stating unequivocally that although other styles of musics are great in their own right, but could never be compared to Afrobeats, she said, “Other genres of music are great, but there’s nothing like Afrobeat. Even the sad music makes you feel good. So, I want Afrobeats to be the biggest genre in the world and I would love to be one of the leading artists.”
She disclosed that her dream music collaboration are with Rihanna, Drake, Burna Boy, Beyoncé, Victoria Monét, Rema, Miley Cyrus, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler The Creator, not coming as surprising to many given her recent international traction and recognition by getting nominated in the recently concluded Grammys
