Nigerian comedienne Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has shared a deeply personal story about her attempted suicide due to overwhelming debt.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, she recounted how a series of failed business ventures left her and her family with a N22 million debt, which led her to contemplate ending her life in June 2018.
She explained that the financial strain began after her husband was convinced by a motivational speaker to pursue multiple business opportunities.
Unfortunately, these attempts left them in significant debt, and the pressure became unbearable for Asuoha.
Reflecting on her suicide attempt, she said, “I gave up on life because the burden was too much.”
A family member’s timely intervention saved her life, and now, she uses her platform to encourage others facing difficulties.
In the video, shared in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day, she urged her followers not to consider suicide as an option, reminding them that life comes in phases and seasons.
Asuoha also shared how her battle with depression led her to discover her comedy talent, using humor as a way to inspire and motivate others. Through this experience, she has continued to advocate for mental health awareness, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and faith in tough times.
