This Easter, Niyi Akinmolayan’s Anthill Studios and Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao will premiere the Yoruba epic film Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju).
In an exclusive interview with ShockNg, Eniola Ajao revealed that while the upcoming film is an indigenous production, it will nevertheless take a unique approach from previous works. “Beast of Two Worlds is a retelling of the epic tale with a morally significant lesson to be learned. “I’m sure the Nigerian audience would love it—it’s a movie that was made with so much love and passion,” she said.
Beast of Two Worlds, directed by Odunlade Adekola and Adebayo Tijani, immerses viewers in the lives of a helpless king (Adekola) who is about to be banished due to the absence of a son.
He marries Ajao, a new bride from another planet who assures him of a future heir, but when she arrives, the kingdom is thrown into unexpected turmoil, which forces the king to face his anxieties and battle to preserve his dynasty.
Sola Sobowale, Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Akintola, Ibrahim Chatta, Peju Ogunmola, Olayode Juliana, and Fathia Balogun are among the glamorous cast members.
When asked about the motivation for the collaboration with Niyi Akinmolayan, Ajao candidly mentioned how much she admired Anthill’s earlier creations. “I fell in love with Anthill Studios’ dedication to the love of movies and their infectious energy always wanting to tell stories their way,” the actress remarked. “There was no one better suited to partner with than Anthill Studios when I made Beast of Two Worlds, I mean it’s evident in their past works.”
On Thursday, February 15, 2024, the official teaser was unveiled, giving viewers an idea of the drama they may anticipate when it opens countrywide on March 29, 2024.
