In the late 1990s, Nigerian mainstream pop music gained popularity thanks to The Remedies, who consisted of Eddie Montana, Eedris Abdulkareem, and Tony Tequila.
Eedris Abdulkareem recently gave a narration of the circumstances leading up to The Remedies group’s formation, success, and breakup on the Honest Bunch Podcast.

One-third of The Remedies, Eddie Montana, has come out against what he sees as Eedris Abdulkareem’s lies and incomplete accounts of what happened.

In an Instagram Live conversation with Daddy Freeze, Montana asserted that, in contrast to Eedris’ assertion that he was the one who started The Remedies and recorded their breakthrough hit song “Shakomo,” Montana was the one who wrote the song and featured Eedris Abdulkareem on it.

Eddie Montana revealed that he recorded “Shakomo” while still a Yaba Tech student and the song quickly gained popularity at universities throughout the South West and Lagos.

In addition, Montana disclosed that, in contrast to Eedris’s assertion that he had accompanied him to Raypower to record “Shakomo,” it was he who had brought Eedris to the studio.

During the more than forty-minute conversation, Montana claimed that The Remedies were not discovered by Kenny Ogungbe of Raypower and Kennis Music. He disclosed that Raypower and Kenny Ogungbe did not get to meet the group until a year later; Mr. Solomom was the one who first made them aware.

Eddie Montana elaborated on his problems with Kennis Music, claiming that they were made worse by his marital conflict with Kenny Saint Brown (KSB), the sister of Kenny Ogungbe, the head of the label.

Montana further said that The Remedies’ failure to succeed was due to Eedris’ avarice. Montana claims to have met a possible funder who was eager to contribute to the group’s comeback effort, but Eedris was more concerned with keeping a portion of the money for himself.

Eddie Montana also talked about Eedris’ outburst at Burna Boy on the Grammy winner’s claim that no one helped him along.

Montana claimed that Eedris Abdulkareem had no business confronting Burna Boy as the latter just fought for himself and showed no regard for others.

Montana said that alternatively, everyone ought to give Burna Boy credit for elevating Afrobeats to a new level.

Eddie Montana went on to say that he hopes Tony Teitulla comes out as well since this will support his allegations and demonstrate that Eedris Abdulkareem was lying.
