Famous Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has won the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.
Dumelo, who ran under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated the incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He secured 40,561 votes, while Alhassan received 27,377 votes.
This victory is particularly significant as Dumelo had previously contested for the seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Alhassan.
Dumelo began his acting career in 1991 and has since appeared in numerous Gollywood and Nollywood films.
