In this present day and age, in which civilization is at its peak, a lot of acts and ideologies which would have been acceptable in the olden days are highly frowned upon today. One of such acts is intimacy or marriage between elderly men and younger women whom they are significantly older than.
No wonder why Hollywood is currently suffering a backlash after the release of Jenna Ortega’s latest movie titled Miller’s Girls in some selected theaters earlier this year in January.
After some people watched this movie, they have come to social media to express their disbelief as well as concerns over a sex scene between the two lead actors, Jenna Ortega, 21 and Martin Freeman, 52, because of the significantly large age difference between the both of them.
The storyline of the movie revolves around a writing student named Cairo-Jenna Ortega. Cairo embarked on a creative odyssey when her teacher- Martin Freeman, assigns a project to her and in the course of this project they become entangled and their lives become interwoven and intimate.
Some described the sex scene in the movie between the two actors as “cringy” while others described it as “disgusting” some others described it as “concerning”.
However, as reported by People Magazine on their web page, the intimacy coordinator of the movie, Kristina Arjona has assured the public in a recent interview with Daily Mail that both the co-stars were comfortable while filming the scene and there is nothing to be worried about.
She said “There [were] many, many people throughout this process engaging with [Jenna] to make sure that it was consistent with what she was comfortable with, and she was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do” .
“Part of my job too is supporting her decisions. I adapt to whatever is the comfort level of my actors, especially on a production like this where there is a large age gap between the actors,”
She further said “I’m hyper aware of both of my talent and making sure that we’re consistently checking in and that at no point are any of their boundaries being surpassed.”
“And, again, making sure — especially with someone who’s significantly younger — that they are giving continuous consent”.
Nevertheless, both Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman are yet to make a statement about the recent outpour of concern all over social media because of their new movie.
It is not surprising to see the world in shock and disbelief over this sex scene between two different age group with a large gap as Hollywood and America as a whole has always been at the forefront of promoting modern and western civilisation as well as the abolishment of some olden days acts such as this-Intimacy between an older man and a significantly younger woman.
