Bobrisky files ₦1bn defamation lawsuit against VeryDarkMan

Bobrisky

Nigerian crossdresser and social media personality Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, for defamation.

The lawsuit follows an audio clip allegedly generated by AI, in which Bobrisky is implicated in illicit relationships with high-profile figures, including politicians and law enforcement officials.

Announcing the lawsuit via Instagram on Sunday, Bobrisky’s legal team claims that VeryDarkMan used the crossdresser’s name to gain social media attention, making false claims without evidence.

The suit emphasizes that VeryDarkMan’s allegations, including claims of relationships with senior law enforcement officers, are unsubstantiated and harmful to Bobrisky’s reputation.

The lawsuit also accuses VeryDarkMan of disregarding Bobrisky’s mental health and privacy, stating that he persisted in making reckless claims despite lacking proof.

The AI-generated audio, allegedly fabricated by VeryDarkMan and others, is central to the defamation case. Bobrisky’s legal team insists that he had no involvement in the audio conversation and demands that the clip be removed immediately.

In addition to seeking ₦1 billion in damages, the lawsuit demands a public apology in two national newspapers and a video apology to be shared across social media platforms. Failure to meet these demands within 24 hours could result in further legal action.

This development follows VeryDarkMan’s viral audio in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) collected ₦15 million from him to drop money laundering charges. Bobrisky’s legal team, however, has denied any such involvement.

Earlier it was reported that Bobrisky spent only three weeks in prison despite being sentenced to six months for Naira abuse.

Days ago, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board suspended two officers from the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre in Lagos following allegations related to Bobrisky.
