A Tribe Called Judah, a comedy-drama by Funke Akindele, has made ₦1.4 billion at the Nigerian box office thus far.
The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria released a report earlier today, Monday, February 19, 2024, stating that the film grossed ₦6 million from February 9 to February 15, 2024, bringing its total to ₦1,401,483,233.
After making its debut on December 15, 2023, A Tribe Called Judah is currently in its tenth week of release in Nigerian theaters, continuing to hold the title of the highest-grossing Nigerian film ever. In UK theaters, the full-length film has also brought in ₦144 million.
According to the producers, the movie’s numbers will be made available in francophone nations shortly.
Nevertheless, The Silent Intruder has surpassed the Akindele all-star film to become the most-seen Nigerian film in theaters.
The thriller, which starred Big Brother Naija alumnus Pere Egbi as one of the main characters, made ₦16,536,700 in its first week of release at theaters.
All’s Fair In Love, starring Deyemi Okanlawon, comes next and is ranked fourth on the previous week’s box office charts. The romance film, which debuted on Valentine’s Day, made ₦10.4 million in its first seven days of sales.
Seventh place goes to the movie Meeting Funmi’s Parents, which stars Omowunmi Dada and Timini Egbuson. With ₦4.9 million added last week, the film’s total earnings to date stand at ₦29,510,385.
