2024 MOBO Awards: Nigeria’s Asake Wins Best African Act Award

Adding to his MOBO award to his collection, the crooner of “Omo Ope” has won the Best African act after fending off competition from other Nigerian superstars including Burna Boy, Davido, Adekunle Gold,Rema, and Wizkid

In the same category were also South African Tyla, Cameroonian-American Libianca, and eSwatini artist Uncle Waffles.

Since the megastar has broken into the mainstream in 2022 with his hit single ‘Omo Ope’, Asake has enjoyed huge commercial success through a string of hit releases and two albums that rocketed him to superstar status.

Its equally important to note that Asake wasn’t the only Nigerian who won at the 2024 MOBO Awards, Equally winning the Best Gospel Act was Afro-gospel hitmaker Limoblaze

Ahmed Ololade (born 13 January 1995), known professionally as Asake, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is signed to YBNL Nation and Empire Distribution. His stage name “Asake” is his mother’s name.
