WAEC dismiss report of ad hoc staff recruitment

WAEC

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has debunked rumours of the fake job advert being circulated by unscrupulous elements whose aims are to defraud innocenr job-seekers.

The Acting Head of Public Affairs at the exam body, Movosola Adesina, in a statement issued Friday explained that the nomination of supervisors is a task that is solely in the hands of the various Ministries of Education.

“The attention of the West African Examinations Council has been drawn to an online portal advertising job offers purportedly from the Council,” the statement read.

“The said website advertised job offers that are supposedly meant for ad-hoc staff who would serve as supervisors and invigilators in the forthcoming West African Senior School Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2024.

“The Council would like to state categorically that the advert did not emanate from us and thereby disassociates itself from the fake job advert being circulated by unscrupulous individuals whose schemes are to defraud unsuspecting job-seekers.”

“WAEC is not currently engaging in recruitment activities. Whenever job opportunities arise, they are exclusively advertised through the daily newspapers, WAEC Nigeria’s official website (www.waecnigeria.org), and all of our social media platforms.”

It further stated that invigilators are chosen by the educational institutions that submit candidates for the test, underscoring the fact that, as a highly regarded international examining body, it upholds a steadfast dedication to moral behavior and would never ask job seekers or prospective employees to pay a fee in exchange for a job offer.

WAEC further stated that anyone using this website, or any other one, for transactions other than through the official WAEC website, does so at their own risk.
