The 2023 UNILORIN Annual National Essay competition has come and gone. It was held In honor of Hon Justice Innocent Umezulike with 40 law faculties participating with over 200 submission.
Precious Chiamake Onuabuchi of the University of Ilorin emerged as the overall winner with a cash price of ₦100,000. Omobolanle Alashe from Babcock University emerge as the First runner up with a cash prize of ₦50,000 while the second runner up was Timothy Wisdom from River State University with a cash price of ₦20,000.
The foundation attributed the formation of the competition to the successes of Hon Justice Innocent Umezulike who is a Professor of Land and Property Law with over 25 published books and the singular honor of being the longest serving Chief Justice in the southeast region.
All the winners were awarded with certificate of excellence and their essays will be published in the Hon Justice Innocent Umezulike Foundation Law Journals.
The foundation was established to promote education and qualitative research amongst undergraduate laws students, particularly in Land/Property law. Its aim is to enlighten and improve writing, critical thinking and providing invaluable tools for research advancement for the upcoming generations.
It also serves as a platform for partnership between the Foundation and Law faculties in Nigeria.
The Foundation Head of Legal and Research, Ruth Soronnadi, the Foundation Head of Legal and Research appreciated the winners for their effort and excellent performance to stand out in the competition.
