President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renaming of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) to Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja.
This decision was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Tinubu.
The renaming honors General Yakubu Gowon, Nigeria’s former head of state, in recognition of his contributions to the country’s unity and progress.
The proposal will now be forwarded to the National Assembly for formal legislative approval.
