Paulina Adeniji, a Professor of Human Nutrition and Hospitality at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has urged all tiers of government to implement policies that will support community gardens and farmers’ markets to promote availability of foods.
Adeniji stressed that communities should be involved in the development of nutrition programs to enable cultural acceptance and encourage Nigerians to make use of space in their various houses for their home garden to enable them afford food items as fruits and vegetables which can also be shared with the residents.
The Don also urge the National Universities Commission to raise nutritional education by creating awareness to empower individuals in schools, colleges and community centres to enable them to make knowledgeable food decision which promotes sustainable and healthy lifestyles in the society.
