The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Monday a work-free day for teachers in both public and private schools to mark the 2024 World Teachers’ Day.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, this decision reflects the state’s recognition of the vital contributions made by teachers to the education sector.
The governor’s message, quoted in the statement, reads: “As we celebrate World Teachers’ Day on October 5th, I, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, extend my heartfelt congratulations to all teachers, especially those in Osun State. In honour of this occasion, tomorrow will be a public holiday throughout the state. I urge all teachers to use this time to reflect on the past, present, and future of our education system. My administration remains committed to supporting teachers and ensuring their happiness and fulfillment in their roles.”
Similarly, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has declared Monday, October 7, 2024, as a holiday for teachers in Ogun State to celebrate this year’s Teachers’ Day. Schools in the state will resume academic activities on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
At a recent event in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun also announced the approval for the construction of 12 blocks of 900 smart classrooms across four zones, benefiting schools such as Abeokuta Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Remo Secondary School, and Yewa College.
