Old Students Wants Government to Hand Over School

Methodist High School, Ibadan Old Boys Association, Oyo State, has asked that the school be turned over to its alumni. At the first-ever Mega Reunion Gala Night in 62 years, held at Adeline Hall, Lead City University, Ibadan, under the theme “Education, Innovation and Possibilities for a Better Nation,” the former students, who came from various parts of the world, were delighted to see each other again after leaving or splitting up during secondary school.

Olalekan Abioye, president of MHSIOBA, welcomed the crowd and urged the state government to turn over management of the school to the association(MHSIOBA) to oversee and expand it. The association would like to bring back traditional boarding schools and provide top-notch education. However, the government alone cannot do it and that is why it becomes so important that the Alumni Association comes to the side of their school to revive and manage it.

We acknowledge the outstanding work Governor Seyi Makinde and his team for his support to give quality education and you are a witness to the catch them young projects within the state. We urge them to place mark on our property so that we can fence off our school grounds completely from land grappers.

The chairman of the board of trustees, Oluyemi Morakinyo, stated in his message of goodwill that the school’s recognition by the state government at the inaugural Education Summit in October 2023 was made possible in large part by the developmental projects that different class sets undertook.

The school’s first principal, Pa Gabriel Osinbowale, the first student, Prof. Yemi Akinrinmade, past and present principals, teachers, and students were among the dignitaries in attendance.

Olaseni Adegbite, added, “It is good to be back after so many years. The saying is true that 20 children cannot play together for 20 years. I look around and see different faces; boys have become men. Glory be to God for life and good health.” Mr. A.I. Adebisi, the principal, thanked the MHSIOBA exco members for their prompt responses and support whenever the school needs it.
