One Hundred Primary school pupils from five different schools in the Idiroko axis of Ipokia Local Government Area of the state have received educational support from the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command, in collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organisation, Teach for Nigeria.
Hammed Oloyede, the Public relations Officer for Ogun 1 Area Command, stated that three members, Mrs Akanbi Olutoyosi, Mr Mathew Emmanuel, and Mrs Obot Aniebietabasi of the NGO met the command to support their humanitarian drive “Cloth a Child Initiative” for 20 indigent pupils each from five primary schools wearing worn out school uniforms to school.
It was claimed that this was having an impact on their academic performance as well as their ability to interact with other students.
To widen the charity by giving out educational materials which includes pairs of uniforms with socks to a complete set, books and stationaries, chalks and white boards markers to teach the students. The materials were presented by DC Charles Ogunesan, Deputy Comptroller Administration on Wednesday at a ceremony held at IPLG School I and II Idiroko.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu, applaud the NGO for their great humanity drive and also pleaded with the children’s parent to give extensive attention to their kids and take their education serious as its the only way to return the favor.
The schools chosen are Community Primary School, Odan Aje, Igbo Adiguns, Ipokia Local Government (School 1 and II Idiroko) and Ipokia Local Government School, Ikolaje.
