JAMB discover 1,665 fake results during DE registration

During the 2023 Direct Entry application process, at least 1,665 fake A-level results were discovered, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede who received the leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students in his office on Tuesday in Abuja disclosed that 397 were from Colleges of Education, 453 are university diplomas while the others are A’level certificates.

The A-level results verification regime was characterized by systemic corruption, according to the board after experiencing a shock in the Bayero University, Kano application where only six was genuine out of 148 Direct Entry processed.

To secure the integrity of A’level certificates used in gaining admission, stakeholder have been called on to implement a verification task group and develop a unified platform for verifying the certificate as the platform is dependable and easy to use.

The current DE registration has been modified, so that candidates may register now while the institution conducts background checks on their application materials.

The affected institutions, which had more than 20 unverified candidates, would have to pre-verify candidates applying with their certificates before they could finish their DE registration process, while listing 15 institutions that had not complied with the board’s requests for verification in a sufficient manner

Egunjobi Samuel, the NANCES President, commended the work the registrar is doing, particularly in terms of restoring sanity, integrity, and credibility in the nation’s examination and admission processes.
