According to Dr. Iyela Ajayi, Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), the federal government is modernizing fifty senior secondary schools nationwide.
During a recent courtesy call on Dr. John Mamman, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Education, Ajayi made this statement in Lafia.
He disclosed that one of the schools chosen for the improvement was Government College, located in Nasarawa.
According to the Executive Secretary, President Bola Tinubu accords the education sector’s growth great attention, as seen by the budgetary provision made to it in the 2024 Appropriations Act.
He said: “Upgrade of the 50 selected senior secondary schools across the nation, which was captured in the 2024 budget, is a clear testimony of this administration’s commitment to the development of Senior Secondary Education on the country,.”
In order to ensure a smooth transition throughout the upgrade, Ajayi further urged collaboration between the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and the consultant who will be there.
In response, Mal. Mohammed Sani Bala, Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, who spoke on behalf of the state Commissioner of Education, thanked the commission for choosing the state as one of the pullout states and pledged that the state would provide all necessary support to ensure the upgrade’s success.
Additionally, he gave NSSEC assurances regarding the state House of Assembly’s composition of the Nasarawa State Senior Secondary Education Board.
