Adeagbo urge FG to empower out-of-school children

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria

Mrs. Ibironke Adeagbo, the founder of IA-Foundation which is a UK-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to lowering the number of Nigerian children not in school, has pleaded with the Federal Government to give newly created parastatals for out- of-school children more authority to ensure that all our children get the chance to access education and reach their full potential.

Mrs. Ibironke Adeagbo, a chartered accountant and the founder of the IA-Foundation, in collaboration with Councilor Micheal Situ, the mayor of Southwark, to raise money and awareness to assist in removing vulnerable children off the streets of Nigeria.

According to Adeagbo, there is a link between insecurity and illiteracy. These children have no skills and must turn to crime in order to survive.

She reaffirmed the Foundation’s willingness to collaborate with the government, particularly the Northern Governors forum, in order to provide funding for a long-term countermeasure to the threat.

Ibironke affirmed that the foundation intends to hold a larger fundraising event on March 2 at 4 p.m. at the Civic Center in Victoria Island, Lagos, in order to gather money to send the kids back to school.

Ambassador Cyprian Heen, the Acting High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, emphasized the value of education while emphasizing that the government cannot solve all problems.
“We should all make social investments to help these kids get off the streets so they can be economically active and pay taxes in the future, which is good for Nigeria’s economic development.” He reaffirmed the commission’s backing of the fantastic initiative of the IA-Foundation.

The event’s host, Councillor Situ, asserted that education is the only tool that may help people realize their potential and go on to succeed in life.

The Foundation’s Chairman, Mr. Jide Olagundoye, further stated that the organization is committed to reducing the number of children in Nigeria who are not in school because it is intolerable and a ticking time bomb that could worsen the country’s insecurity problems in the future.
