2,889 education students received ₦75,000 bursary awards – Minister

According to information provided by Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman during the Federal Ministry of Education’s first quarterly meeting, he stated that 2,889 students studying education-related courses in Nigerian Universities have benefited from the ₦75,000 bursary awards.

In celebration of the World Teachers Day in 2021, the Federal Government announced that students enrolled in public university programs in education will receive a stipend of ₦75,000 per semester while student pursuing the Nigeria Certificate in Education will get ₦50,000 per semester.

In 2022, the ministry invited applications from qualified students studying Education courses in colleges of education and universities.

Mamman stated that, “345 individuals are beneficiaries of the Bilateral Education Agreement scholarship, 51 for the commonwealth scholarship, 2122 benefitted under the Nigeria Scholarship while 724 are beneficiary under the Teachers internship Scheme.”

Tanko Sununu, Minister of State for Education, disclosed that the goal of the quarterly civic engagement is to create awareness of the ministry activities, to promote a beneficial understanding, transparency and accountability between stakeholders and citizens.
