12 Ajayi Crowther varsity students freed in Murder Case

Twelve out of the 25 students of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, for alleged murder were on Monday freed.

Twenty-five students of the institution were previously arraigned on charges of conspiracy, murder, and negligence.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi ordered their remand in an Ibadan correctional facility, pending legal advice.

Twelve students have now been discharged: Kehinde Martins, Samuel Okorie, Mustapha Khalid, Yusuf Adeniran, Joseph Areoye, Iyanuoluwa Oyelakin, Obaloluwa Olalekan, Emmanuel Adejumobi, John Daudu, Moses Abiola, Hammad Tijani, and David Kolawole.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi discharged the 12 students after legal advice indicated no evidence linking them to the alleged crimes.

Femi Oladoye, a university security guard initially charged with negligence, was granted bail at ₦250,000 with two sureties.

The case was adjourned to July 8 for mention.
