Two Task Force Officers sacked for stealing during raid

The Lagos State Task Force has dismissed two personnel, Fatai Yusuf and Hammed Garuba, for their involvement in theft during a recent raid.

This announcement was made in a statement by the task force’s spokesperson, Mr. Abdulraheem Gbadeyan, on Friday in Lagos.

According to Gbadeyan, the officials were caught stealing phones during an operation at a hotel in Gowon Estate, which is notorious for harboring drug users and traffickers. The raid resulted in numerous arrests.

He explained that the integrity of the raid was compromised by the actions of the two officials, whose misconduct was captured on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). The culprits were found guilty of stealing mobile phones from the scene.

“Both individuals, serving as paramilitary officers within the agency, were subjected to a meticulous investigation by the agency’s disciplinary committee. Upon confirmation of their guilt, they were summarily dismissed from service and will face immediate prosecution for theft,” Gbadeyan stated.

The task force’s chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, condemned their actions and reiterated the agency’s strong commitment to integrity and accountability. “Akerele has issued a stern admonition to all personnel, emphasizing that any breach of ethical conduct would attract severe consequences,” Gbadeyan added.

The task force, guided by principles of discipline, equity, and justice, will decisively address any act that compromises the agency’s credibility or erodes public trust. In a related development, those apprehended during the raid have been arraigned.

These actions highlight the task force’s firm stance on unethical conduct and its dedication to maintaining law and order, in alignment with the Lagos State THEMES Plus agenda.
