The 125,000 barrels per day Warri Refining and Petrochemicals Company (WRPC) has commenced operations.
This announcement was made by Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), during a tour of the facility on Monday.
This development comes just a month after the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt refinery in Rivers State.
Addressing the team during the tour, Kyari stated, “This plant is running. Although it is not 100 per cent complete, we are still in the process. Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real.”
The WRPC, located in Warri, Delta State, is a significant step forward in Nigeria’s efforts to boost its refining capacity and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
