President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Olatunji Bello as the new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
The appointment is subjected to a confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
The new FCCPC Chief is a renowned journalist. He previously served as the Chairman of the Editorial Board at THISDAY Newspapers, beginning in 2001.
He is also a recipient of the US Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship.
Bello began his journalism career at Concord Newspapers in 1985, where he served in pivotal editorial roles such as Group Political Editor and Editor of National Concord.
Besides his journalism background, Bello is also a lawyer and administrator. He has held positions as Secretary to the Lagos State Government and Commissioner for Environment in different administrations.
A statement announcing his appointment says President Tinubu expects Bello to lead the FCCPC in fulfilling its mandate of protecting Nigerian consumers and ensuring the safety and quality of goods and services.
