A suspected robber who stole a trailer truck loaded with 35 tons of groundnut oil with an estimated worth of ₦30 million has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command.
It was gathered that the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters of the state responded to a distress call reporting the theft of a trailer truck parked at the Maraban Jos trailer park area of Kaduna State on April 12, 2024.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Sunday, said the stolen truck, a DAF CF 85 Model was coming from Umuahia in Abia State heading to Kano State when it was stolen in Kaduna State.
The Force mouthpiece also disclosed that preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the truck had stopped around the Maraban Jos trailer park to take his bath only to return later and discovered that the trailer was missing from where it was parked.
However, according to the PPRO, Police operatives were able to recover the significant amount of goods in the vehicle, including the trailer truck.
SP Wakil added that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody for questioning.
