On Monday, a nonviolent demonstration against the nation’s rising cost of living was organized by youths, members of the Federation of Informal Workers in Osun State, Joint Action Force, Coalition for Revolution, and Osun Civil Society Coalition.
They also criticize the federal government’s choice to award the governors with the revenues from the withdrawal of oil subsidies.
After gathering in Osogbo’s Freedom Park, the demonstrators marched through the neighborhood and gathered beneath the Olaiya Bridge, where they conversed with media.
Numerous armed police officers, together with members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, were present at the protest site to monitor events while demonstrators performed a variety of songs that portrayed the suffering that Nigerians were facing.
Earlier, it was reported that a similar protest was staged in Lagos in the early hours of today.
