OPay has announced a new fee on electronic transfers into personal and business accounts, in line with Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) regulations.
Starting on September 9, 2024, a one-time charge of ₦50 will apply to transfers of ₦10,000 and above.
In a statement issued to customers on Saturday, OPay explained that the charge is a government requirement, not a revenue source for the payment platform.
The notice emphasized, “OPay does not benefit from these charges, as they are directed entirely to the Federal Government.”
This move aligns with the government’s efforts to generate revenue from electronic transactions through the FIRS.
