The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has released a preliminary report on the Allied Air cargo plane crash that occurred on December 11, 2024.
The report reveals that the Boeing 737-400F aircraft, with registration number 5N-JRT, was on a positioning flight to collect cargo for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) when it crash-landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The aircraft had arrived from Douala earlier that morning and was scheduled for multiple sectors, including Lagos-Abuja, Abuja-Sokoto, Sokoto-Abuja, Abuja-Yola, Yola-Abuja, and Abuja-Lagos, with the same flight crew.
Following the crash, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed that all passengers on the cargo aircraft were safely evacuated after the plane skidded off the runway.
The NSIB’s investigation is ongoing, and the final report will provide more detailed findings and conclusions.
