The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has directed its members in states that haven’t implemented the new minimum wage to start an indefinite strike on December 1, 2024.
This decision, made during the NLC’s recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, criticizes certain state governments for delaying or ignoring the 2024 Minimum Wage Act.
The NLC also announced plans to raise awareness about the issue and to organize nationwide industrial actions.
Additionally, the NLC demanded more comprehensive economic policies from the government to alleviate hardships caused by inflation and rising costs.
