The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced that Nigeria’s headline inflation rate was 24.48% in January 2025.
This occurred after the rebasing of the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
This marks a decline from December 2024’s inflation rate of 34.80%.
This was disclosed by the Statistician General, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, on Tuesday in Abuja at the launch of the rebased CPI report.
The inflation rate for January is a decrease from the 34.80 per cent recorded in December 2024.
He also noted that the food inflation was 26.08 per cent year on year for January
The rebasing involved updating the reference year and the basket of goods and services to better reflect current consumer spending patterns.
The rebased food inflation stood at 26.08%, and the core index, which excludes volatile agricultural produce and energy, was 22.59%.
