Total capital importation into Nigeria surged by 91.35%, reaching $1,252.66 million in the third quarter of 2024, compared to $654.65 million in the same quarter last year.
This data comes from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report on capital importation for Q3, released on Friday.

The report indicates a year-on-year increase in foreign investments into Nigeria. However, when compared to the second quarter of 2024, capital importation declined by 51.90%, from $2,604.50 million in Q2 2024.
A detailed analysis of Q3 capital importation revealed that portfolio investment topped the list with $899.31 million, making up 71.79% of the total.

This was followed by other investments totaling $249.53 million, accounting for 19.92%. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) recorded the least amount, at $103.82 million (8.29%).
