Nigerian State announces 55% Discount on Rice, Others

Foodstuffs on display in one of the numerous markets in Nigeria

A 55% discount has been approved on rice and other essential items, costing ₦14 billion, to alleviate hardship caused by the fuel subsidy removal.

This was announced by the Sokoto State Government.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu emphasized that these items are meant for every family across the 244 wards, without political or ethnic bias.

He also encouraged wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to support the initiative, which will continue until the economic situation improves.

Monitoring teams, comprising various officials, have been tasked with ensuring the effective distribution of the food.
