Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has contributed $10,000 for the reconstruction of a historic 200-year-old mosque in Damagaram, Niger Republic, following its recent collapse.
Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, the governor’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, and also the Turankin Damagaram, conveyed the donation and spoke to journalists in Katsina on Friday. He noted that the mosque would be rebuilt to a high standard.
The Sultan of Damagaram, Alhaji Abubakar Sanda-Umau, expressed gratitude for the governor’s support, highlighting how the gesture would further strengthen the centuries-old ties between Katsina and Damagaram.
Gwajo-Gwajo explained that Governor Radda’s donation was driven by his commitment to fostering both social and spiritual growth, not only in Damagaram but throughout Niger Republic.
“This mosque will play a vital role in promoting Islamic moral discipline and addressing societal challenges. We are one people separated by artificial borders, and it is important to work together to overcome our shared challenges,” he added.
