Nigeria’s national power grid experienced its first collapse of the year on January 11, 2025.
The collapse occurred at 1:56 PM and has thrown many parts of the country into darkness. This incident follows a troubling pattern from 2024, when the grid suffered multiple failures, leading to widespread power outages.
Experts attribute these failures to factors such as aging infrastructure, inadequate maintenance, and insufficient investment in the power sector.
The Nigerian government has acknowledged these challenges and is working on initiatives to overhaul the national grid and improve electricity supply.
