- Power Generation Drop: Power generation reportedly dropped from about 4,000 MW earlier in the day to below 1,000 MW at the time of the outage. The peak generation for the day was recorded at 5,284 MW at 5:00 AM.
- Electricity Distribution Companies’ Response:
- The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) confirmed the outage and stated that efforts were underway to restore supply in collaboration with critical stakeholders.
- The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko DisCo) also acknowledged the disruption and assured customers that they were working with partners to resolve the issue and restore power as quickly as possible.
- Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN): As of the time of reporting, the TCN had not issued an official statement regarding the cause of the outage.
