Labour Strike: Airports grounded in Nigeria, Passengers stranded

The organised labour has shut down all entry points of aviation agencies at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, Malam Aminu Kano International Airport( MAKIA), Kano, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The act has left hundreds of passengers on flights stranded at the entrance gate of the airports.

This is happening as aviation unions join the nationwide indefinite strike declared by organized labour over the new minimum wage and hike in the electricity tariff.

The unions announced the decision after a meeting on Sunday.

“In compliance with the directive from our labour labores-—Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria—we hereby inform the general public, aviation service providers, airline operators, aviation businesses and all aviation workers nationwide that starting from 0000hrs of June 3, 2024 all services at all Nigerian airports shall be fully withdrawn till further notice,” the statement released after the meeting read.
